Qualities of Mindfulness

Please consider these elements of consciousness

Awareness

Awareness is the active perception of things. It is the foundation of mindfulness, in which we learn to guide and condition awareness, thereby influencing the patterns of the ‘mind’, emotions, and body

Focus

Focus is the quality of holding awareness or intention steady. Focus supports mindfulness by increasing continuity of awareness, thereby supporting embodiment and intentional conditioning of being

Sensitivity

Sensitivity is the state of attunement to stimuli. A person experiencing depression may be more attuned to pain, fear, and negative perceptions. Through mindful action, we can recondition sensitivities

Conditioning

Conditioning is the accumulation of experience and patterns of being. Our embodiment and sensitivity in any present moment is informed by our conditioning. Stated otherwise, a component of sensitivity and reactivity

Physical Sense

The physical senses. Sensations of the body and sensations outside of the body. Pain, contentment, and the full spectrum of sensation.

Emotional Sense

The sensation of emotions in the ‘mind’, heart, and body.

Identification

The sense or categorization of self and non-self and any matter of identity. I’m unsure where you and I begin and end, but I can feel we are here together

Momentum

The residual energy of our experiences, feelings, states of being, and mental objects. We carry momentum at all times. Energies cannot be created or destroyed. Instead, we channel them with steady compassion

Clarity

The state of clear connection to mental objects, energies, or emotions. Mindfulness seeks to resolve delusion and confusion with clarity for the discovery of insight

Embodiment

Embodiment is the actualization and encoding of being. We seek to embody our aspirations though a life of active connection. Therefore, our ideals become more than mental objects

Excitation

The state of being of nervousness, turbulence, or stillness. Otherwise stated, the state of the nervous system which impacts our state of being at all times

Connection

The state of relating and feeling bonded with beings, mental objects, sensations, emotions, emotions and identities. This feeling may be tangible for strong connections

Energy

The physical, mental, and emotional spectrum of states between exhaustion and vitality. This is the physical reality that regulates our capacity

Capacity

The state of utilization of our total energy. As earthly beings we manage our energy output given a fluctuating capacity

Acceptance

Stated otherwise: surrender, grace, forgiveness, and equanimity. The active, sometimes effortless state of peace with your condition, however it may manifest.
